About The Book

The Names We Carry

Luke Pike’s debut book offers a gripping exploration of his family’s history and the untold stories of the Gangalidda-Garawa People. With powerful storytelling and deep personal insight, the book provides a unique perspective on life in northern Queensland during the colonisation of Australia.

Through meticulous research and heartfelt narration, Luke weaves together the voices of his Nana Dulcie, her mother, and his great-great-grandmother Hoosan, each of whom played a pivotal role in shaping his understanding of heritage, identity, and resilience.
